The Entomological collection of the Escuela de Biología of the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC) focuses on hexapods, arachnids, myriapods and terrestrial isopods. It was founded in 1989 and maintain approximately 121,000 curated specimens. The most represented groups are Odonata, Dermaptera, Orthoptera, Phasmida, Blattodea, Mantodea, Hemiptera, Megaloptera, Neuroptera, Coleoptera, Diptera, Lepidoptera and Hymenoptera. In addition, the collection contains type specimens from the orders Coleoptera, Lepidoptera, and Scorpiones. The main emphasis is on the entomofauna of Guatemala, particularly that of the protected areas managed by the USAC. The collection is accessible to students and researchers from anywhere in the world, after contacting the curators.
